“The problem is not that the budget was suspended and postponed. That was the right decision –otherwise, you’d have gotten into this mad mess with the DA voting against it and the budget being withdrawn after the presentation. What this highlights is that the politics and process within cabinet ultimately worked as intended. The real problem is that it reached this stage so late. The books were already printed when it should have been known several weeks ago that this was impossible,” says Attard Montalto.
