LISTEN: Stuart Theobald on SA’s lack of ambition

Krutham executive chairperson Dr Stuart Theobald joins Cape Talk’s Afternoon Drive with John Maytham to discuss SA’s lack of ambition.

“It’s about coordination and planning. Morocco, for example, has a very good planning department and government, making sure that policy is coordinated and implemented. You have ports, for example, that have the capacity to get goods out to markets around the rest of the world at low cost and efficiently. At the same time, you have the industrial policies that lead foreign investors to come and build factories in the country. In comparison, we’re just nowhere while we’re trying to do import substitution industrialisation. Our ports are unable to get goods out to the rest of the world,” says Stuart Theobald.
