Johannesburg, 25 March 2024 – Krutham is proud to announce the appointment of Nicole Martens as head of impact investing research. Nicole will lead the team responsible for Krutham’s various impact initiatives, including building the impact investing ecosystem across Africa. Nicole will work with both finance-first and social-first clients, ranging from banks to philanthropies, to develop and implement mechanisms to improve social outcomes while meeting financial targets.
Krutham’s impact work includes investment advisory with an impact lens, policy for improved impact, ESG advisory for financial institutions, philanthropic strategy development and just transition research and advisory. The firm develops innovative solutions for tackling social problems such as the Jobs Boost Outcomes Fund which is tackling youth unemployment through new approaches to mobilise partners across South Africa.
Nicole joins from Old Mutual Investment Group where she was head of stewardship. Her 15-year career has covered impact investing and consulting, including heading Africa and Middle East for the United Nation’s Principles for Responsible Investment.
